Rosewood Hotels & Resorts debuted Sense, a Rosewood Spa, as the first launch of its new spa brand that will be found at several Rosewood resorts throughout the world. "When you
think about where the concept came from, it was sort of a natural progression for Rosewood," says Bob Boulogne, COO of Rosewood
Hotels & Resorts, who points out that the company currently boasts several properties with award-winning spas and that there
was a company-wide desire to unify the brand. "We really wanted to expand on the concept that we build our hotels around,
which is to create a spa that respects the indigenous nature of where it's located."
Although each spa will incorporate Rosewood protocols and rituals, the Rosewood philosophy of a sense of place will guide
every element of the spa experience. Each spa will be designed to enhance the guest experience by reflecting the environment
with treatments and services that honor local traditions in healing and feature indigenous natural elements. The recently
opened Rosewood Mayakobá offers the first Sense spa in the portfolio. Up next will be Sense outposts at Rosewood Little Dix
Bay (B.V.I.) and The Carlyle, A Rosewood Hotel (New York City). Additionally, Sense will soon be a fixture at select up-and-coming
properties in the Rosewood collection, such as Rosewood Dubai (U.A.E.), Rosewood Sand Hill (Menlo Park, CA), and Rosewood
Telluride (CO), all of which open in 2009, as well as Rosewood Costa Carmel (Costa Rica), which opens in 2010.
