PureOlogy Supports Ovarian Cancer Awareness

PureOlogy representatives distributed HydrateShampoo, HydrateCondition, and wristbands to participants.
PureOlogy Serious Colour Care is the official haircare and styling partner for the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (NOCC), an organization that helps increase awareness and educates women about the symptoms and risk factors for ovarian cancer. PureOlogy and the NOCC will host nationwide Walks to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer throughout the year. Company representatives will be on-site at each event, distributing HydrateShampoo, HydrateCondition, and wristbands to participants. "Ovarian cancer is a serious disease that affects thousands of women around the world, and in women ages 35–74, ovarian cancer is the fifth-leading cause of cancer-related deaths," says Karen Fuss-Zipp, senior vice president of marketing for PureOlogy. "Finding a cure for ovarian cancer is a cause that is very close to the hearts of the PureOlogy family, and we're eager to advance together with NOCC." Tara Spa Therapy Raises Ecological Standards

Monique Bertsch (right), spa director at Adolf Biecker, presents a bag of spa slippers.
Tara Spa Therapy has aligned with Renewable Choice Energy to purchase enough clean, renewable energy to offset all of the company's power consumption for its operations. Tara is also in alliance with Fees to Funds, a program that turns credit card processing fees into cash donations for charities and non-profit organizations. "At Tara, we strive to set a new standard of responsibility by adopting and implementing principles, policies, and practices that improve the quality of life for our customers, employees, community, and the environment," says president Tara Grodjesk.

Adolf Biecker Salon/Spa Donates to Charity

Adolf Biecker Salon/Spa, located in the Rittenhouse Hotel in Philadelphia, donated more than 400 gently used spa slippers to the African Family Health Organization, which is dedicated to serving the health and educational needs of disadvantaged people in Africa. According to spa director Monique Bertsch, the idea came from a client who worked for the Kibale Community Fuel Wood Project in Uganda and alerted her to the country's need for footwear. "We go through hundreds of pairs of disposable slippers a week," Bertsch says. "It feels good to turn a potentially wasteful situation into something helpful for someone in need."
