Extracts Announces Best New Product Awards

Extracts presented the Best New Product Awards at the February exhibition of more than 100 new products in beauty and wellness. Danielle and Company was named the overall Best of Show winner for its Organic Soap Garden. The winners and finalists were selected by a panel of trade editors, including American Spa's managing editor, Nanci McArdle. "As Extracts evolves, it continues to showcase creativity and innovation in products," says Melissa Engongoro, manager of Extracts. "The winners and finalists represent the best of the best in personal care." The other winners of each category include: Bath & Body: Chick of the Sea/Foaming Crystals by Honeycat Cosmetics; Beauty Accessory: Tassi by Whats Hot!; Cosmetic & Fragrance: Joya's Perfume in Porcelain by A Candle in the Wind; Natural/Organic: Bite Be Gone by European Soaps; Packaging: Read My Lips Lipstick by The Balm.

EMERSON RESORT & SPA AWARDED FOUR STARS

The Emerson Resort & Spa (Mount Tremper, NY) has been included in the Mobil Travel Guide's list of four-star rated spas and is one of only four spas in New York state to receive the distinction. The resort and spa opened in March 2007 to replace the former Emerson Inn, which had also been awarded a four-star rating by Mobil Travel Guide three times. Says spa director Susan Keene, "It is our staff and the attention they give each guest that has established the Emerson as one of the elite spas in the country, a claim this award clearly supports."

Spavelous Magazine Presents ROSE Award

The January 2008 issue of Spavelous magazine announced Deborah Garman, spa director of Hotel Viking's SpaTerre (Newport, RI), as the winner of the Spavelous ROSE Award for Director of the Year. Nominated by the general public, the winners were chosen as role models of operational excellence in the spa industry. Based on her innovative managerial approach, Garman's achievement is also supported by the awards SpaTerre has won in recent years, including Best Spa in Newport by the readers of Newport Life magazine and Boston magazine's Most Relaxing Treatment Award in 2007.
