Clarisonic Donates to the Cause
On behalf of Pacific Bioscience Laboratories, Robb Akridge, M.D., cofounder of Clarisonic, presented a check for $200,000 at the 16th Annual Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) Revlon Run/Walk for Women, which supports breast cancer research. EIF ambassadors and actresses Jordana Brewster and Marcia Cross accepted the check on behalf of EIF. The money was raised through Clarisonic's "Pink Ribbon" campaign, in which a portion of proceeds from the purchase of every pink Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System is donated to the fight against breast cancer. "We are thrilled about the important, collaborative research supported by EIF to fund breast cancer research," says David Giuliani, CEO of Pacific Bioscience Laboratories. "It is our hope that this donation will help in the fight against breast cancer, serve as a means for our company to give back, and offer our customers an opportunity to continue this journey with us because the advancements being made are so promising."

Universal Companies Partners with Trees for the Future
Universal Companies partnered with Trees for the Future to plant 5,000 trees to offset the paper used to print its 2008 and 2009 catalogs. In addition, even though the 2009 Spa Resource Book features more products than ever, it contains 128 fewer pages than last year's book, eliminating the use of more than 10 million pages. It is also offered in an electronic format.
